FRIDAY, OCTOBER 24TH
6:00 - 8:00PM
(off-site)
We're very excited for next Friday's Trunk or Treat event. Trunk hosts are hard at work on the planning for their trunks, and we're looking forward to seeing our Calabash families there! Thank you to everyone who has donated candy to PTO.
Some important information as you prepare for the event:
TO BRING AND NOT-TO-BRING: We won't be selling food at the event, so you may want to have dinner in advance. Be sure to bring a bag/bucket for your child to use for trick-or-treating. Please leave your pets, scooters, and bikes at home.
PARKING: Parking will be available on the neighborhood streets surrounding the church. If you park on the frontage road parallel to Mulholland, please be aware that no parking is allowed on the Mulholland-side of that street. Cars can only park on the side closest to the church.
ENTRANCE: The entrance gate of the lot on Deseret Dr. will open at 6PM. No vehicles will be permitted to enter or exit the lot during the event. Upon arrival, kids will receive a glow necklace while supplies last, courtesy of PTO!
BATHROOM: Since we won't have access to the inside of the church during the event, PTO is bringing in a portable restroom with sink for washing.
SAFETY: The lot is fully gated and we will have professional security guards keeping watch at the entrance and exit gates. However, it will be parents' responsibility to watch their children at the event.
Trunks will be arranged in a modified U-shape to help keep kids within a central area. However, we strongly encourage families to set expectations with their children ahead of time about staying within the designated space.
Please note: the outer edges of the lot can become quite dark. Some families with younger children choose to attend the earlier portion of the event and head home before it gets too dark or crowded.
Lastly, as with traditional trick-or-treating, this is not an allergy-free event. Please talk with your children about any treats they should avoid and help them check their buckets accordingly.
PTO TABLE: This year, PTO will have a table near the DJ booth, serving several purposes:
- Water sales
- Candy refills for trunk hosts
- A designated meeting point for any kids who have lost track of their grown-up
Please make sure your children know that if they get separated from you, they should go directly to the PTO table for help.
BEING A GOOD NEIGHBOR: We would love our families' help leaving the church exactly as we found it, picking up candy wrappers, and being respectful guests of the space. Cleaning candy wrappers that are left behind in the dark after the event is a loaded task, and we could use your help.
During the event, we should have enough candy for all kids to make at least several trips around the lot, depending on your arrival time. Once the candy runs out, the fun will continue as our DJ kicks off a fun Halloween dance party!
Trunk or Treat is a beloved tradition at Calabash, and we can't wait to see you there!
